The great Nayanmars who had sung the beautiful Devaram Songs, namely Tirugnanasambandar and Sundarar also worshipped the Lord here and sang verses glorifying the Lord Siva. This place is now regarded as Ragu Sthalam. Offering milk to serpent deity on Sunday is considered as something very beneficial to the devotees. So, on Sunday and on some very special occasions i.e., on Rahu kalam in each day, devotees bring milk here and offer it to the God. The one specialty of this serpent deity Ragu is when milk is poured on him it looks blue to the eyes of the devotees
